AdSense is a program run by Google. It allows you (the website owner) to make money by displaying "Google Ads" on your websites. With the insertion of a simple code Google makes text, image and/or video ads appear on your website. These ads are contextual and show up based on the keywords and content present on your website. Because they are "contextual" and usually text ads, AdSense ads are less intrusive than traditional ads, such as banners. Since the ads are picked based on the content of the website, the ads are also more relevant than traditional banners. You (the website owner) are paid when an Internet user clicks on an ad you placed on one of your web pages. The amount you are paid depends on what ad and what keyword the ad is based on. You might make a few cents or a few dollars per click. All the ads displayed come from folks using the Google AdWords advertising program. Something to be aware of... Because you get paid for each click made on an AdSense link regardless of whether anything is purchased at the advertiser's site or not, it may be tempting for your friends try and "help you" by clicking on all of the ads on your site. However, this is called "click fraud" and Google watches for this type of activity intently. If a web page looks like it's showing signs of click fraud, you can lose your access to Google AdSense forever. There are three main ways you can encourage clicks on your website... Get more visitors to your site... The more traffic you have, The more people see your ads, The more likely it is some of them will click on your ads. Add tons of valuable content to your site. Value attracts AdSense ads that pay higher per click. You can use copy on your website to encourage visitors to click on the ads. Some of the most common phrases are "Sponsored Links" and "Advertisements." Note: It is against Google AdSense policy to post statements like "Please click on my AdSense links" and you can lose your Google AdSense account permanently for doing so. Contextual text based ads focused on the keywords you choose for your pages is what Google AdSense is. So by placing Google AdSense on your website you easily open the door to an additional income stream.
